Now for a little while you may have had to suffer grief in all kinds of trials. These have come so that your faith – of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire – may be proved genuine and may result in praise, glory, and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
1 Peter 1:6-7 NIV
If God has chosen not to relieve your suffering, it does not mean that your faith is not strong enough, or God is not powerful enough, or you are not righteous enough. It’s not that your physical suffering is unimportant, but that your spiritual state far outweighs the physical in importance.
Our trials are fire, our faith like gold. When gold is thrust into the fire, unwanted materials are removed. And when our faith is thrust into the fires of our trials, the unwanted materials, the sinful doubts are removed. Mature faith is to be certain deep in our hearts that God is working everything for good, even when we can’t see Him at work.
