Triumph Over Suffering

We are the clay; You are the Potter.        – Isaiah 64:8

What Does It Mean to Surrender?

Surrendering to God is giving God control of every aspect of your life – money, school, work, relationships, time, status, possessions, reputation, dreams, plans.  It is choosing to live for His vast eternal plan, His Kingdom, His purpose for you in this world, instead of living for your own dreams and pleasures and desires.

And He died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for Him who died for them and was raised again.
2 Corinthians 5:15

Entering into a relationship with Jesus entails surrender.  When you first surrender to Jesus, you surrender all you understand at that moment.  God rescues you from Satan’s Kingdom and transports you to the Kingdom of Jesus Christ.  Your sins are forgiven, you have stepped into a deep relationship with Jesus, and you are given eternity with God in heaven.  You will belong to God’s Kingdom of Light forever.

But you are not finished with surrender then – you have merely embarked on a lifetime of surrendering.  As you come to know Jesus more, He will call you into a deeper and deeper surrender of things you didn’t even know you were holding back.  And as you surrender more and more to Him, your relationship will become richer and deeper, a treasure so precious you will wonder why you were holding those things back to start with!

What are you holding back from Him?  What is above God in your life?  Is God calling you right now?  Are you ready to come into a deeper surrender to your Redeemer and Savior, the One who died in your place?  If you are ready to surrender everything to His control, to put God above everything else in your life, to live completely for Jesus and not for yourself, I invite you to pray this prayer right now:

Oh heavenly Father, I want so desperately to live for You and You alone.  I see so clearly my sins, all I am holding back from You, and right now I surrender everything to You, I give you control of every single aspect of my life, my money, school, work, relationships, time, status, possessions, reputation, dreams, plans.   I choose to no longer live for myself, but to live for my Lord Jesus Christ who died for me.  Amen.

If you have just surrendered your life to Jesus for the first time or have come into a deeper surrender to Him, please contact us so we can encourage you and pray for you.
